Deadliest Warrior: The Game

When MTV approached Pipeworks to develop the video game version of Spike TV’s hit show, The Deadliest Warrior, they had one special request. They wanted to premiere a trailer for it at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards Show. When Pipeworks approached us with the project we had four weeks to concept, create and deliver the HD trailer. Woohoo!

Hey, if a Shao Lin Monk can fight a Moari Warrior we can take liberties on the location, right?

If you haven’t seen the show on Spike TV yet, you should really check it out.  Its a total geek fest. The premise is simple.  Take two warriors from anytime in history, and pit them together in an epic battle to the death.  The outcome is determined by a crack team of weapons and martial arts experts, historians, and a programmer with proprietary software.

For the trailer, we decided to go with a knight and a ninja, based on a previous demo Pipeworks did. We thought it would be a great homage to Oregon if we placed the battle somewhere in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Hey, if a Shao Lin Monk can fight a Moari Warrior we can take liberties on the location, right? Needless to say, the video was delivered on time and it looked fantastic. MTV and Spike TV were thrilled and aired it right at the beginning of the annual Video Game Awards Ceremony. That makes two of our projects to make it on live national TV.
