REALTIME CINEMATICS

These are the days of cinematics. Where Film and Games become one. This is our time. Our cinematics are directed and shot by filmmakers who have years of experience telling stories on screen. Whether it’s dramatic, scary, suspenseful or comedy – and boy do we know comedy – we shoot it the way it’s supposed to be shot. We’ll shoot in Max. We’ll shoot in Maya. We’ll shoot in the dark, dirty, greasy depths of your engine, and we won’t come out till a real movie is made.

PRERENDERED CINEMATICS

When you want to broadcast trailers or cutscenes far beyond the confines of your game engine, we’re the ones to call. We understand not every developer has three million dollars to throw at cutscenes or a high end trailer. We consider it a crime that this magical art form is historically limited to the financial elite of the game industry. Cinematics for the People, we always say. We’ll work within your budget to deliver breathtaking cinematics that tell the story you need to tell, rendered in glorious high definition for maximum eye hemorrhaging beauty.  And no one will know you didn’t spend a small nation’s GNP to get it done.

GAME ANIMATION

We’re not really sure how to say this without sounding boastful, so we’ll just spit it out. We’re really good at this. It’s true. We have worked with, and have been praised by the best. There is a reason for that. We are perfectionists. We work hard. We study. We film ourselves. We get up out of our desks and move. We animate to make the player feel something. We make them feel bigger, faster, more powerful than before. We make them feel like they can do anything. We make enemies strong, scary, and intimidating. So that when they go down…they go down BIG. We animate everything. If we can’t animate it, then it shouldn’t be moving.

ENVIRONMENTS AND CHARACTERS

We model and texture environment assets and characters. Max, Maya, Zbrush, Mudbox, low poly characters, high resolution characters, in-game assets and environments. Our team members have been doing this a very long time. So what? A lot of people can create assets. A lot of people overseas can do it very cheap. That may be the best way to go, depending on your needs, budget, language and patience level. You would only choose us for the following reasons: You need a lot of them soon, but they need to be perfect. You don’t want to manage thirty artists individually. You don’t want to have to fix or redo any of them. You want them to look as good as your in-house art. You want them to go straight into the game, no hassles. You want them on time. You want to talk to someone in person. You want to talk to someone in your own timezone. You want us to be at your office in less than 24 hours notice. CONCEPTS AND ILLUSTRATIONS

This is where most of us began. The days of paper and pens. When good illustrations were enough to throw us right into the world of magic, monsters and scantily clad barbarian women with ridiculously oversize weapons. Lucky for you, most of us never left that world. Our team lives and breathes concept art and not a day goes by where someone here isn’t sketching or coloring something beautiful on paper or on screen. Nothing truly begins here at Cinematics till it is properly drawn out. We storyboard every cinematic, conceptualize every model and design every character before the first polygon is ever created. It is as much a part of our process as it is our lifestyle. This is the culture of art that we foster and encourage here and it is appreciated by both our clients and teammates alike.

AUDIO SERVICES

Concepts, Story, Art, Animation and Audio are the five key ingredients for a great entertainment experience. We do not skimp on any of these. Audio is no exception. We are endowed with some of the best audio toys in the business. Sound recording booths, editing suites, microphones, equipment and artists who know how to utilize it all to its full potential. The Portland area is overflowing with some of the most creative composers and musicians in the world, and we take full advantage of this. We believe no matter how great a scene or game is, with the right music and sound it can transcend into a magical experience.
